Baby Gift Tutorial: Minky Burp Cloth
Chances are you know someone expecting a baby sometime soon. Sister? Friend? Colleague? Whether you’re going big on presents or small scale, consider making these super easy, handmade burp cloths as part of your baby shower gift. They’re not only extremely practical for parents, but babies will love the feel of the minky material — which is why, after all, this fabric is used for everything from little ones’ stuffed animals and blankets to changing pad covers and play mats.
I believe Heidi of Muslin and Merlot uses flannel for the reverse side in her project, but I’ve included a few cute coordinating cotton prints for you to browse below because they’re equally as functional for a burp cloth (and won’t pill.)
Banana (Yellow) Minky Dot Fabric
Michael Miller Giraffe Love Grey Fabric

I make these, but I add a layer of light weight all natural batting between layers, and stitch down the middle length-wise, and then across near the middle of each end. They absorb more than the ones I made without the batting. They sell well on ETSY, and my grandson prefers them to any others. He had the major urps all winter and so my kids were also glad they had them!
