Sweet Home Alabamaand Roll Tide Roll is where I’m from but the mountains called my name to move to Colorado! 14 yrs here in CO, I love the mountains and skiing. I worked on the slopes with the USA race team and now own BC Blankets located in Falcon.
I LOVE fabric, being creative and helping others be creative
Sounds amazing Robin. And love what you’re doing with BC Blankets! π
I was born a Buckeye, but raised as a Mountaineer! Have visited every wonderful state this country has to offer, plus a few countries oversees. Served in the United States Air Force and with the United States Postal Service. Being retired affords me the pleasure to quilt from sun up to sun down!
Wow Cynthia. That’s impressive! What countries overseas?
I’ve lived in Pennsylvania all my life. I was inspired by my grandmother to craft and sew. I enjoy all types of mediums. I love where I live and recently our town was voted one of the coolest small towns in the USA. Even though I’ve lived in PA all my life my family loves to travel and we have covered the east cost pretty well. Would love to spend time going out west. Would love to win this to go and create something special.
I grew up in Acton, Ma. At the age of 7 we moved to Bolton, Ma and live across a scary cemetery…it was for a 7 year old. Then we moved to Lancaster when I was 14. My parents still live in that house. I also lived in Ashland, Ma but now I’m living in Bellingham, Ma with the love of my life. I like being close to the highway, Boston and Rhode Island. I love living in Massachusetts. Besides the taxes I love the changing weather and having the ocean so close. I dont think I’ll ever move out of state.
Bawn (“born”) in NC, transplanted to TX, and then settled down with a sweet tea in hand in “Gaw-ja.” Lived there through college, married my college sweetheart, and migrated to the arctic tundra of IL. Loved my time there, but ultimately moved back south of the Mason Dixon line after 6 years, and we’re happily sippin’ sweet tea, chompin’ crunchy pecans, and churnin’ homemade peach ice cream back in the…you guessed it…peach state, Georgia. Nothing like being home.
Michigan. Love the summers in Michigan.
I live in Ohio. I’ve lived in Ohio all my life, but several different places. Right now and for ever more I will reside in New Bremen. It’s a tiny town, but very friendly people. There is always something going on in the area fairs, festivals, charity events ect. Yes, the weather is just like we say, if you don’t like the weather, give it a minute, it will change! Ohio weather, gotta love it!
I was born and raised and lived 60+ yrs in San Angelo, Tx. It’s in west Texas, but not FAR west Texas. If you’re from Tx, you know what I mean! In the past year I have moved to central Texas, Canyon Lake to be exact. That’s halfway between Austin and San Antonio. See, in Texas you have to be a little more specific about where you live because there’s a lot of ground in between places.
Born in Paris TX, two brothers born in LA and 3rd brother in Port Lavaca, TX where we lived growing up. Celebrating 47 years of marriage in a couple of weeks and 50 year high school reunion in a couple of months. Renewing high school friendships (where has that time gone?) through Facebook (isn’t that just the best and worst thing ever?). Lived in small towns around Houston for 40 years and now have retired to country life near Yoakum, TX. Full time caregiver for my 91 year old Mother and working on my unfinished projects and buying new ones.
Phillipsburg,NJ
I am Tiffany born and raised in *gulp* Flint, Michigan. For a minuet lets forget the violence and crime and look beyond that, its a city that was once booming. It flourished and in certain areas it is trying to be just a beautiful again. It is a city that teaches you that beauty is in the eye of the beholder. It is a quilt of many colors that has been sewn with new and old squares side by side learning something from one another.
I was born in a two room house in the small town of Louisburg, Kansas. And no, I’m not really THAT old but it was a very rural area sixty years ago. Today it’s a bedroom community of Kansas City. How times have changed! I’ve spent my entire life within fifty miles of Louisburg and still have family there. I’ve traveled to 42 states and two countries, had so much fun exploring this great country and am still proud to call myself a small town girl as I now live in a tiny town in Missouri just 30 miles from where I was born.
Raised in good ol Georgia but moved to the great state of Texas after I was married and had me a few little cowboys in the process who enjoy antiquing with their mama.
I was rsised in small town in SW Oklahoma. The town was named after Chief of the Kiowa Indian tribe. I still reside in Sw Oklahoma in Mangum, where I work at an ambulance service. The sense of small town and close church friends and family is what I love.
I am from central Michigan, where there are few resources for fabric. I am always seeking new resources, but often they exceed my budget constraints. I would love to take advantage of some “free” fabric!!
I’m from Indiana. Eligible for the DARs on my mother’s side and first generation American on my father’s. And my daughter will be just the same when she’s born in June!
I was born on Long Island, raised in Miami, married an Air Force soldier went to England and finally settled in Washington state
I was born and raised in Virginia, where I live now. Though Virginia is a beautiful state, my heart is in the northwest. I went to school in Washington state and lived in Idaho for several years. Would love to move back there someday – those gorgeous mountains!
I was born and grew up in Rochester, NY, with Wegmans, and George Eastman’s house, and the Strong Muesum of Play. Last year, I moved about 30 minutes south of the city to a small town called Caledonia, which is old and quaint and charming and full of community pride; for Valentine’s Day, there was yarn bombing throughout the town, and many of the businesses put up big valentine hearts out front with punny quotes, like the Inn, which said “Fell Inn Love!”
Roscoe Illinois On the Wisconsin border but soo to be somewhere warm and no snow, I sew daily to pass the winter blues away,
I was born a long time ago, in a galaxy far, far, away, better known as Travis AFB, California. My father was a pilot in the Air Force and 6 weeks after I was born we moved to Morocco, Africa. After that we moved to several states and two more countries, Japan and Thailand. By-the-way, all 3 countries had AMAZING fabrics. The last place my father was stationed was Richards-Gebaur AFB, Missouri before he retired. My husband and I and 3 kids call Belton, Mo our home. Belton is just outside the base and is a suburb of Kansas City.
I am from Abbottstown, Pa a small town close to famous Gettysburg, Pa. I was born and raised in area and now live one mile from where I was born – on my grandparents farm . Gardening and sewing are my best stress relievers. Love love love material!!
I’m from Kentucky-the blue grass state. I’ve also lived in Alaska and Hawaii!
My home is in Las Vegas. NO not in a hotel or casino! People think that Vegas is all about bling, glitz, chaching but it’s not!
Should i tell you how beautiful the skys are or the cleanliness of the areas outside of downtown/strip!? should i tell you how gorgeous the mountains and lakes are and how much there is to do besides gambling? How about how uncrowded the highways and byways are.
I could go on about the 2 months of hot dry heat (ugh) but i’d rather tell you about how perfect the weather is the rest of the year is.
Nah! i’m not going to tell you about how awesome it is here. Just stop by and see for yourself
Marble Hill, Missouri
I was born and raised in Des Moines iowa. Married and moved to omaha. Now live in spirit lake iowa. Resort town. Have been sewing since seventh grade. Because of our smaller town we are limited loyally to fabric shops. One lol I have to travel more than an hour to find fabric stores. So it is a blessing to have choices on line.
I grew up in Huntington Beach, California, just a few blocks from the beach. I’m currently living in Texas on Cedar Creek Lake. The view from my desk is a beautiful, glistening lake with gorgeous sunrises, lots of ducks, geese, birds, squirrels, jumping fish, and turtles. It’s rumored there’s an alligator in this lake but I haven’t seen it yet.
Texas! Beautiful east texas.

lived in conn. rhode island and new york while my husband served in the navy and army national guard
I’m in Northern California. Sacramento region to be a less vague. I know that there is one California, but there is a huge difference between the northern and southern. I’m curious how California will be represented. We have hills, mountains, valleys, lakes, rivers, deltas, oceans, snow, deserts, country, suburbs, urban and metropolitan areas.
Arkansas
North Carolina! Little town of Maiden that makes national news for some of the oddest reasons: “artificial arm found in BBQ grill”; “ostrich loose on Main Street”; “biggest little football town in the world”. But the folks are great!
I was born and raised in the south but have lived as far west as Hawaii. For the past 20 years my home has been Greer, SC. I love South Carolina and I love fabric!!
I am from a small town in western New York. I grew up on a large dairy farm. It was established in 1832 and is still going strong today. I am a nurse and take care of our veterans. I have 2 sons 20 and 22. I love NY because my family had been on the farm for 8 generations!
Hi my name is Faith , I live in Lexington, N.C. I love this website and shop here ofte the only place to buy fabric here is Wal-Mart so I have to be Home DΓ©cor on line. I was born in Fayetteville, N.C . My father was a Baptist minister and we moved every two years til I became married and moved to Columbia, S.C. I am a very diversified person and can make and do anything, paint, draw but my passion is sewing I have decorated houses a lot and doing some great slipcovers which I love to do. I could really use $50.00 as now I am doing my own home. I became disabled a couple of years ago due to diabetes and can not work. So I still try to do things around my home. Thanks foer this chance. Faith
I am fortunate to live in Lancaster County, PA, amid quilts, quilts stores and quilt fabric stores. Sounds like heaven, doesn’t it? We also have a very active quilt guild where like minded stitchers support and sympathize each other. What quilter doesn’t need someone to say, “Sure, you need more fabric.” or “It’s OK to start another project even if you have one or many UFOs.” That’s what friends are for.
Thanks for the chance to win, because you know I can always use more fabric.
I was born in Los Angeles but moved to the Evergreen State, Washington, 24 years ago and have never looked back. The most beautiful place on eArth. Rivers, mountains , ocean, lakes and trees galore. I love crafting from my workroom window that looks out onto a lake. Very inspirational.
I’m from Old Town, Maine which is 10 minutes from the third largest city in Maine, Bangor. I’ve lived here my entire 35 years and would love to move south! Maine is known for their lobster (yuck!) but we also have the best blueberries ever! All of our blueberries are wild and when you bite into that small berry an explosion of tartness bursts into your mouth. Ahhh, heaven. Other than that, we just get lots and lots of snow and lots and lots of cold, lol. But being cooped up in my apartment sewing isn’t so bad. (:
Jacksonville Florida and decorating our new condo…..dreaming of so many coastal prints of fabric to make valances and curtains and table runners. Would love to win the $ …………Sandie <3's decorating!
I am a grandmother of two preteens and have a passion for custom made boutique & vintage fashion for girls.
We live in Indiana but the winds do surely blow,
So my kids refer to this dear state as “W-indyana”, so we go.
I was born and raised in NE Iowa on a farm. Being one of six children, we were expected to help with the daily family chores and harvesting. My mother made most of my clothes or reworked hand me downs. She is the one who introduced me to fabric. I began sewing as a young girl making Barbie Doll clothes. I have lived in Colorado and California as an adult and currently in in Northern CA. Beautiful area of the country and only 1 1/2 hours from Lake Tahoe.
Born in Holland, raised in Connecticut (where we studied the thirteen colonies and sang songs about the Revolutionary War – *Connecticut, are you for independence? Are you for the pursuit of happiness? Connecticut….says YES!*)and California, (where we studied the gold rush and sang Everly Brothers songs *Bye, bye love, bye, bye happiness…*) and currently living in the San Francisco Bay Area. I’m still singing, but only when alone in the car or the shower, since sadly, I just can’t carry a tune.
I live in the beautiful Ozarks of southwest Missouri. I was born and raised in the big city Los Angeles, but have always been country in my heart. In 2005 we moved to “outside a small town” Missouri, with only a few neighbors, lots of trees, birds, clean air, open land, and all sorts of animal noises π I learned to quilt from the internet, and have joined my local quilt guild where I get to sew with quilty friends, and take full advantage every chance I get. I love to do charity quilts for Ronald McD House, Quilts of Valor, local shelters and family serving our country. Quilting is a special blessing in my life that is my therapy, my hobby and my way of giving to others. Everyone needs a quilt made with love for comfort and warmth. Thanks for this great opportunity to share my love of the Ozarks and life π
GREETINGS FROM MONTANA, THE HOME OF BEAUTIFUL ROCKY MOUNTAINS, WHERE I’M QUILTING AWAY AS USUAL!
β₯ THANKS FOR SHARING!
I was born and raised in Sioux City, Iowa. I’ve since lived in other states and currently in Central California. I will always be an Iowa girl but I got tired of snow and 50 below zero winters… It’s always hard to be away from family and friends but we do what we can to visit. Skype is the best thing ever!
I was born in PA, but my family moved to VA about 2 years later so I consider myself born and raised in VA π I grew up near the Blue Ridge Mts. in north central VA, and then studied in Harrisonburg, VA and London, England. After college I moved back to the area I was raised to live and work. My small immediate family still resides in the area as well. I love the area, and even after my travels in college, I knew where I grew up is where I belong π It is so beautiful here, especially the mountains in fall!
I live in Poplar Bluff, Missouri. We are about 30 miles from the Arkansas border. Population of
18,000. We are the “Gateway to the Ozarks” located
at the foothills of the Ozarks. There are lots of outdoor activities, with two lakes and three rivers
close by. I love to do embroidery and quilt. I had a stroke, and I was paralyzed on the left side. I am
left handed. I had to learn how to write and walk again. I am so thankful that I can grip a needle, and hand quilt again. I may be slow, but my stitches are equal (although they are not as small as they used to be). Thanks for the chance to win!
I live in central Nebraska on a lake near Loup City. I have lived here 33 years. I was born at Aberdeen, SD and have traveled to Germany, England, AMD France
Minnesota
I lived in Kentucky the first eight years of my life and since then have moved many times. But bluegrass remains in my blood and my heart hopes to soon return to the south.

I live in the Midwest and have all my life. Growing up on a farm, I was allowed to see the beauty of what God has made! ..work the soil, see the creatures and marvel in the creation and workings of it all!
I have gone full circle in my life, and now am trying to focus on the land and what herbs we have been giving to live ‘wholistically!’ and to prevent before having to heal.
I love the ‘ erbalistic’ living!
Simple and basic… I love things that portray, reflect that nature and love fabrics that showcase the same.
Blessings to you and best wishes to the entrants!!!
Have an ‘erbalistic’ day!
INDIANA is where I reign!!!
Sounds amazing!
Right now I am living in my Motor Home in Holden Utah…I was born and raised in California near San Francisco but have lived in Utah since the 70’s. One reason I am living in my Motor Home is I am living on a fixed income and can’t afford to live anywhere else and still afford to sew and quilt.
Thanks for sharing Susan! We’re actually headed to Salt Lake City in April for the SNAP conference π It’ll be my first time in Utah!
Both of my parents came from farms, like a lot of people my age, I imagine. One near a tiny town in Wisconsin, the other from what was once one of the largest farms in South Carolina, now part of Fort Jackson.I leave in Alton, an old river town by St. Louis, with good ole midwestern rural influences close by. I have grown to love gardening from my parents. Plants connect me to my ancestors, taste amazing and inspire my art. I teach art by profession and work to inspire children to find beauty in our world. For me that includes the beauty of plants. And fabrics!!!
You’re lucky to have such skills Patti! I’m hoping to learn/teach my boys about vegetable gardening starting this spring!
I am from Tulsa, OK !!! Go Sooners!!
I have a friend who trained as a paramedic in Tulsa for a few weeks Becky π
I was born in Berwyn Illinois, but lived in many cities in Illinois, New Lenox, Tinley Park, Joliet, and Morris. My father accepted a job offer in Texas, so at age 16 we moved to Seabrook Texas. This in when I also got my first job. There I was a teenage girl from a country town to a teenage girl in the gulf coast area, my father made me go to work at a stinky, slimy fish market. I never seen shrimp till then but that wasn’t the bad thing, I also had to pick up squid, octopus, crawfish and huge redfish. Ewww YUCK, I hated it so after 1 year of being there I begged my parents to please let me move back to Illinois, so after months of this I finally got my wish. Moved back there started back in school in Joliet Illinois. During spring break I went to visit my parents. After being there for a couple of days I was taking my little sister to an appointment when I was hit by a drunk driver, (I was sitting still waiting to make a left turn, the other driver was drunk and doing 80), That was the worse time of my life, I had broken my neck and was not suppose to survive. By the grace of GOD I had beaten all odds. Not only did I survive but after being told I was going to be paralyzed for life, I regained the feeling back in my legs. Long story short, while still in my neck brace I met my husband, now of 31 years, I moved with him to his home town of Bridge City Texas. There I raised my 3 beautiful children and now I have 5 wonderful grandchildren. My kids were now all grown and starting adult lives of their own. So I now have followed my oldest, my daughter to Lavaca Arkansas so I can be near my grandkids. I love spoiling them. They are the ones that have given me the inspiration that I have to pick up my crafting again and with having 1 grand daughter and 4 grandsons, I am learning to sew and make hair bows and tutus. Arkansas is my favorite place I have been and hope to stay here for as long as I can.
Talk about being blessed Colleen!! That’s amazing and so glad to hear everything worked out for you and your family π And staying in that job you disliked for a whole year at 16 years old is impressive π
Nevada.
I live in Reno, Nevada which is known as the Biggest Little City in the World. I have resided here since 1978.
Currently, I am working on a block for a quilt commemorating Nevada’s sesquicentennial which will represent the Jewish community.
My biggest challenge as a seamstress is to make fashionable outfits which also meets the Orthodox requirements for modesty.
Thanks so much for sharing a bit about yourself Rivka. Sounds like your sewing skills are top notch!
I am from Lennon, Mi. I love sewing and crafting!
Hi Connie! What are some of your favorite things to make? I’ve only been to Michigan once. Detroit, for work where I hosted a brunch with local families before a Disney on Ice Show. π
I live in Alabama, although I was born and raised in Florida. Alabama is a great place to live – everyone is so family oriented, the food is delicious, and life just moves a bit slower here.
Sounds like a nice place to live. We plan to take a road trip through the south when our boys get a bit older π
My family is from Raleigh, NC, where I was born. My Dad was in the Navy and I’ve lived all over the southeast, but settled back in Raleigh when I left home. I loved my career. I’ve traveled all over the US and to Ireland, England and France. My dream would be to have an apartment in Paris, but I know I wouldn’t be happy that far from family. So with the help of fabric, which I LOVE, my home is my little piece of Paris. I come from a long line of quilters and working with fabric for over 30 years, I consider myself an expert at color choice. I love my very warm, comfortable home and am happy either alone or entertaining friends & family.
Love it Debi!! And what an amazing skill to have been passed down to you.
I’m from Glendale, Arizona. I was born on an island in the Pacific. Oahu in fact. Couldn’t tell you what it was like. I was 3 when I left. I’m an Air Force brat. I’ve live most of my life in Arizona, but I’ve also lived in Florida and Washington state as well. Soon, I will be making a huge migration to upstate New York to be with the love of my life. It took forever to pack my fabric up for the big move. I’m going through sewing machine withdrawals already.
What a big transition from the warmth of Arizona to upstate NY Kristy! π Good luck with the move! (My late grandfather was in the Airforce too so my mom and family lived in Taiwan for a while when they were younger.)
I am a native Southern Californian, living in rural Oregon. I spent the first 40 years of my life going barefoot, taking it for granted that I’d be able to read the newspaper in the sunshine, every day. Now I live in a beautiful, rainy place. There are weeks when my coat and mittens never fully dry out. I have found myself reading in the rain, because I have learned that in a minute or two the showers will stop–for a minute or two. I love both places and they each feel like home to me. Human beings are remarkably adaptable, don’t you think?
Agreed Beth. Remarkable. (PS You’re a lovely writer!)
I live in Aberdeen Mississippi, on the Tenn-Tom River. I love sewing, gardening{flowers&veggies} and reading, baking and cooking, putting up my jams&jellys. Junking is a good time when I get out for a bit. I have severe artheitis in knees so have to be careful. One son&wife, hubby and 2 dogs, 2cats. would love to win
Sounds so nice Jean. There’s nothing like homemade jam. π
I am from Ashland city tennessee, which is just outside Nashville .I like to crochet craft and knit but my passion is sewing.when I was a bit younger I drove an nhra drag car.
That is cool Carolyn! How’d you get into that?
I’m from Lincoln Nebraska. Lived within 20 miles of here my whole life. I’m a daughter, wife, mother and a Grammie
So nice to “meet” you Iris. Your name is beautiful!
I live in the same VA town that I was born and raised in. But lived in SC for 5 years and FL for 3. There’s no place like home!
Nope, there’s not Amy π
My name is Laura Baird. I was born in Virginia, grew up in Virginia, went to college in Virginia, and now reside in Leesburg, Virginia. My two grown children and grandchild live in Virginia too. I love living in an old historic home, a home filled with beautiful colors, variety of fabrics and family antiques. I teach and administrate in a small private school overlooking beautiful country landscapes. I love blue, and living at the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains makes my dream complete. I have a wonderful life!
Sounds gorgeous Laura! My uncle and his fam have lived in Vienna VA forever. π
Howdy from the fresh state of Washington. I live in the Wenatchee Valley where fresh fruit invades our souls (and our tummies) summer through fall. Perhaps that’s why we love color so much, we grow red cherries, golden apples, deep burgundy wine grapes, peaches, apricots and bright yellow pears. Our orchards make quilts of the landscapes and we tend to make quilts from equally brilliant and delicious fabric. Thanks for helping us in our creative endeavors:-) Nancy
Love this Nancy π
I live in The Northeast Kingdom of Vermont. I learned to sew in high school and made most of my clothes for years. When I married, I loved to sew for my girls, but got away from sewing after my husband & I started our business. Now, several years later, my daughter has asked me to sew again for her children and she wants to learn as well. I am really enjoying browsing all the gorgeous fabrics and planning my new projects!
What a wonderful thing for you and your daughter to do together Pat. There was a time years ago my husband and I seriously considered settling in Vermont. It’s so pretty up there and we do road trips up there often!
Washington state!! I’ve lived in 7 different towns but all have been within a 100 milesradius of my hometown.
I love Washington’s red wine π
I’m a Texas girl currently living in Washington. By the third grade, I had lived in 27 states! Daddy was a welder–not military. In my adult life, I’ve lived all over Texas with 5 years in New Jersey and 4 months in Virginia. Five years ago, my daughter and her family moved to Washington, 3 1/2 years ago they “kidnapped” my husband and I and moved us to Washington! While I love living .1 mile from my daughter, Texas will always be home!
That’s a lot of moving Jane! Glad to hear you and your fam are all together now π
Alabama! This is the 5th southern state for me… During my married life that is. I love living on the side of the mountain in Birmingham. I just happen to have the best best view out my sewing room window of the city and another mountain. There is so much to do and see here. And of course the opportunity to share all this with our 5 children and their families and our 5 grandchildren has been precious. I have been sewing since I was 10 and always have projects going. Really enjoy the website and now this blog for inspiration…
Would love to see that view Laura!
I’m currently residing in Alabama, but I grew up in South Carolina and was born in the Philippines. I love the state of South Carolina and brings me joy and pride whenever I see the crescent and the palmetto branding . I love the low country, the history, and the different terrains it offers. You have the beach on one side and the mountains on the other. Also, I take pride in going to school in Charleston. The city itself has full of flairs and mixed of cultures. Named after King Charles II of England, the city definitely portrays his personality- fun, outgoing, and diverse.
Mountains and beach is definitely best of both worlds! π
I was born and raised a Northern California girl…..but I now live in the big beautiful state of Texas! I live near Dallas/Fort Worth and love the big open fields and the bright blue skies! People here are friendly and kind and everything really is bigger in Texas. I live here with my wonderful husband and five year old son Max. I love browsing you site and picking out fabric for my next project!
What kind of projects do you like to make Becky? My sister lived in Texas when she was in the Army Reserves years ago and she loved it!
I grew up in Northfield, ma. AND HAVE LIVED in New England most of my life, now in Hanover, Ct. I am a saemstres and work mostly on wedding gowns and formals. Been sewing since I was 7 and I am 72 now. Still loving it
Sandi
What a wonderful job to have Sandi! And fun that you’re a fellow New Englander π
I was born and raised and now live again in Davis, CA after a 15 year stint in Southern California. We’re just outside of Sacramento in a county called Yolo, so obviously it must be pretty fun! Only downside is there’s only ONE fabric store in town. π
That’s tough Darcie! π
Virginia!!!!
Born an raised in So Cal. As a Marine Corps family we got stationed here in Missouri where we decided to buy a farm in a small town near the base. We loved it so much we decided to stay once he retired.
Sounds so nice π
I live in Missouri. South of Kansas City about thirty minutes. We are lucky to get to experience all four seasons here. Unfortunately winter lasts twice as long as the others. #williteverend
It will end eventually Marlyce. Feeling pretty over it now too! π
I am from Annapolis, Md, home of the crab cake and America’s sailing Capitol. Love my home state, but am not loving the winter we are having….
I adore crab cakes π And hear you on the winter Robin!
I live in NY, no not the city. About 2 hrs. north of NYC in a small Hudson Valley town, Millerton. I worked with the developmental disabled for 37 years. Retired this past May. I am new at quilting. Love to Crochet and Garden. Always looking on line for fabric!
I was born in Illinois, but my home has always been Virginia. My mom and dad were both born and raised here…it’s where they met and fell in love. They were married on a beautiful farm just two miles down the road from where I live now. My dad was an Army officer, so we moved every three years..or less…but we always came back to Virginia when he went to war. I remember the day my big brother and I carried my dad’s footlocker through Dulles International Airport, as dad headed back to Viet Nam. I was so proud of him in his uniform! While Dad served in Viet Nam, Mom ran a home with five rambunctious kids on her own. Thankfully, my grandparents, all Virginians, were close by to lend a hand. We moved a couple of more times before Dad finally retired…in Virginia…where I met a farm boy and fell in love. We were married on Catoctin Mountain and moved straight to New York City for his big new job. We had 12 fabulous years and a beautiful daughter there, but then the time came to move back HOME…back to Virginia…to have the precious years that remained with our own grandparents…to have our daughter have time with her beloved grandparents. Home to Virginia, where our roots go deep. I have traveled much of the United States and lived in a good number of states, and no matter where I go from here, Virginia will always be where my heart is most at home.
Houston, MS its small, friendly, and in the middle of nowhere. We’re just south of Tupelo, MS (the birthplace of Elvis) and that’s about the biggest town close to us.
I live in Montana for over 25 years now..in a small town just north of the Bitterroot Valley, and where Louis and Clark stayed twice..
Bottom line
I am a single mom and Dad to four great kids. Billy is 11, Tee will be 10 in May, John just turned 8 in Jan and my lil mini me Francesca will be 7 in June. I am blessed. I am owed over thirteen grand in back support but have not had time to pursue the ass bc I am taking care of all of us. The church bought me a new Phaff Hobby 142, they want me to succeed anyway I can. The perfect compliment to that gift is fabric from y’all. I don’t ask for anything and am glad to hear this isn’t a random winner. π God bless all and good luck. Me..Lisa
Currently living with 5 miles of where I was born and raised….Huntsviile AL…home of the Space and Rocket Center. Although Huntsville has a huge space influence, I am married to a farmer. We own a family farm growing cotton, corn, soybeans and pumpkins. We also have an agrientertainment part to the farm. @ Tate Farms….
I own a vintage rental company @vinatgeonmacon renting vintage china and furniture plus everything in between for weddings and events.
Wife of 33 years, mother to 2 daughters and 3 grandkids here on earth and 1 waiting on me in heaven.
I was born and raised in central New Jersey – I have lived in the same house, in the same bedroom, my entire life (with the exception of my time out-of-state in college). Living in this area has blessed my life in so many ways – I have never lived more than ten minutes away from my closest extended family members, I get to experience diverse cultures on a regular basis, I can enjoy each of the four seasons in all their glory, and I am never too far away from the ocean. Although it may not be the ideal place for some, I can’t imagine calling anywhere else “home.”
Good luck, everyone!
I am from the south…have loved being a Georgia Peach for 20 years! My precious daughter and I had always dreamed of starting our own little business. Well…we took took that leap of faith over a year ago. We make children’s clothing and home decor! What a blessing it has been to be on this journey with my daughter. We are called…Sassy Frass Giftery! For two sassy southern girls!!
Born in Ohio while dad was in the navy. Lived all over the world until my early teens when we returned to the Buffalo, N.Y. area. Move to sweet home Alabama on the late 80’s and finally found my true home.
I have lived in southwest Ohio all of my life. Fun tidbit is I say ‘pop’ but most of my friends say ‘soda’. I say ‘sneakers’ and others say ‘gym shoes’.
I was born in Cooperstown, NY-yes home of baseball! Haven’t moved out of the state but have traveled quite a bit when affordable. Currently disabled with fibromyalgia, chronic migraines and loving my life sewing! Lost my sister last year to cancer in her brain and miss her terribly. I make tote bags for the hospital’s cancer center for the patients who come to have treatments. Have to do what I can to help others so I sew as much as I can! Thanks for the giveaway and hope spring is closer!!!
Born and raised in a small (pop. 1,800) along the Snake River in Idaho. I now reside in Boise. I’ve lived all but 4 of my 60+ years in Idaho and think it is one of the most beautiful places in the US. My husband and I are both now retired and are able to “snowbird” to So. Arizona and So. California in the winters, but we still call Idaho home.
I live in the Fabulous Florida Keys and am grateful for that fact every day of the year!
I moved to northern New Hampshire 30+ years ago and have been miserably cold every winter (which lasts sometimes seven months). What keeps me here? The people, the incredible beauty and a real sense of community. I never have to worry about finding a parking place, we can count how many lights we have in the town and on my commute to work I see deer, bear and wild turkey. It’s not a place for financial wealth but a place where you can raise your children in a safe environment with wonderful role models and find friends that will enrich your world beyond words.
I live in Wichita, Ks. I am a SAHM of two little boys whom are almost 3 and 4-years-old. I have always lived in Kansas. I grew up in a small town not far from Wichita. My graduating class consisted of 54 others. My husband attended the same school but was two years older than me. He went into the Army right after he graduated and is a Desert Storm Veteran. After he got out of the Army, he lived in Washington State and worked in the State prisons. He contacted me in 2007, after 20 years, and moved back to Kansas in 2008. His birthday is today!! Our fourth wedding anniversary is on the 26th. We were married on the same date that he returned to Kansas. He now works for a Mortuary Service and has seen things no other person would want to. Things are financially tight for us. If I were to go back to work, it would just to be to pay for childcare!! I enter giveaways to help supplement his income. I am hoping to start sewing, open an Etsy store and sell things locally.
I live in the beautiful state of oregon. My small town is listed as one of the top ten places to live. (Coquille). There is so much beauty here with the trees, ocean, beaches, lakes and awesome wildlife. I love living here because everyone knows everyone just like a giant family. I thank god everyday for the riches he planted here:-) π π
I am originally from Iowa but currently live in a township in Minnesota. Home of “Minnesota nice”. We have lived all over the world for my hubby’s job but we like Minnesota best. I guess we are converts.
What parts of the world have you lived Teresa?
I’ve lived in the great state of Tennessee almost my entire life, and I have the accent to prove it. Although I wasn’t born here, I got here as fast as I could. π
Sounds nice Julie…and warm. π
I spent the first 22 years of my life living in the same house, niw that I’ve met my Marine husband I’m in my third house in three years! Despite currently living in Florida I’ll always be a Buckeye at heart!
Can’t be easy Hilary. It’s amazing what military members and their families do and sacrifice for everyone else. π
I was born in the panhandle of Florida, and raised in south Alabama. I moved to the east coast of Florida when I got married, and couldn’t wait to get back home when I got a divorce.
Remarried now to the most amazing guy who was born and raised here in L.A. (lower AL) I couldn’t imagine living anywhere else. It truly is sweet home Alabama to me π
Aww. π
My name is April and I’m from Birmingham, Alabama! I have lived in Birmingham my entire life. I enjoy all kinds of sewing – clothing, pillows, purses, cushions and everything in between. I also have an embroidery machine that I love.
Nice to “meet” you April π
I am from Jacksonville, NC. Lived there until I was 30 then moved up north. Eek, I am not sure I will get use to all this cold and snow. I guess I will always be a southern girl at heart. Flip flops and sweet tea.
It’s certainly not easy to get used to Courtney π What state in the North?
I live in Wisconsin, but I grew up in the north west of England, near Liverpool. I’ve been here in the midwest for 13 years now because of my lovely American husband. We met online in a yahoo music chatroom back in 1999, before internet dating was common. Neither of us were looking to date someone online, nevermind someone from another country. I do like Wisconsin, especially as we live close to my in-laws, which is great for our 3 kids too. The winters sure are long around here though. My Mum back in the UK said that they have daffodils flowering and we still have huge snowpiles.
Thanks for the chance to win. π
What a fun story π The year I lived in London and Bradford (where I met my Swedish husband 2001-02!) it was the nicest weather ever in England! So warm and sunny!
I live in Kennewick one of three cities along the Columbia River in southeast Washington state. I’m fortunate to be able to make a living doing home decor sewing for interior designers and furniture stores.
That’s awesome Susan!
I live in Utah. My ancestors came across the plains with the Mormon pioneers. I’ve lived here my whole life. My 3 sisters have all lived out of state at some point, but they have all returned. I love the mountains and can’t imagine not having them to wake up to every morning. We have the most incredible sunsets.
They ARE lovely (from what I’ve seen of photos) But we’re headed to Salt Lake for the Snap Conference soon so I can see for real π
West Michigan is and will always be home to me! Grand Rapids is as good as it gets….clean, beautiful, cultural, great food, great people, tons of cool festivals and concerts, only 35 minutes from GORGEOUS sand beaches on Lake Michigan, you get to experience all 4 seasons, communities that value family & faith. Born and raised here, our family vacation consisted of camping in a different part of the state each year. The upper peninsula of Michigan is a world all it’s own and makes you never want to leave! The Pictured Rocks Lakeshore on Lake Superior, Copper Harbor, Lake of the Clouds…I’m a proud Michigander!
Sounds beautiful Bethany!
I’m originally from Oslo, Norway..was born and raised there by an American mum and Norwegian dad. I went on to travelling the world with an organisation called YWAM for a few years. After that I met my husband (from Nigeria). We lived in Norway for some years, then relocated to DFW area in Texas..talk about climate, culture and sort of a mindset “shock”..we are raising our 3 boys here now, age 7, almost 3 and turning 1 on Feb. 22nd (tomorrow).
Yes I can’t imagine what a difference from Norway to Texas π I know when we moved back from Sweden to Massachusetts even that was a bit of a lifestyle adjustment.
I was born in Georgia, raised in Florida, since being married lived mostly in South Carolina with a three year break in Texas then back to South Carolina before moving to Tennessee 7 years ago. I guess I’m just a southern girl.
Hi, I live in Rhode Island. My mom taught me how to sew many years ago. She wasn’t a seamstress by any means, but she knew her way around the machine. She made my sisters and I Easter coats and bonnets one year. I treasure that photo! She taught me how to make my first “leisure suit” and several prom dresses. She even came to one of my Girl Scout meetings and helped teach the girls how to make fleece chemo hats. Awesome Mom! Miss her dearly!
She sounds amazing Kathy!
I have lived in rural Iowa my entire life. I enjoy our farm life & the freedom it gives us to travel & see the rest of the United States & the world.
Hi, my name is Callie Washer. I am a Southern transplant born and raised in Louisiana now living in Denver, CO. When I was pregnant with my first child, my husband decided to sell his business and move us to Denver, Colorado, where he got accepted into a top engineering school. I am a stay at home mom and our children are 6 months, 2,4 and 6 and we spend our days, loving living in the beautiful rockies mountains!
Sounds lovely Callie (and you must be one busy mom! I have boys 2 and 4 and I thought I was π
Ripley, WV
I live in Ruth, MS. Love quilting, sewing ands mocking! I gave three grandchildren that I sew and embroidery for them.
Hope you’re teaching them all those skills too Ramona π
Started out in Florida, and began sewing bikinis. Moved up north to have a good excuse to make coats and fleece accessories, and room to have enough fabric to make a bathing suit with sufficient yardage to cover a lot more square footage!!!!!
Do you have a website Rosie?
I was born in Gainesville Florida at Shand’s teaching hospital (that’s where they train doctors at the university of Florida). I was conceived underneath the Roanoke star (a local attraction in Roanoke, Virginia.) so the next time you’re watching the gators play ball or sitting underneath the Star with your loved ones, think of me π
I was raised in all different parts of Florida. Homosassa (home of the manatees) and crystal river (home of the springs). Tarpon springs, home of rediculously large fish, and Sarasota…I don’t really know what that’s the home of. I never ventured out of our neighborhood much. But our neighbors had a salsa band who played nightly. ‘Twas entertaining. After that I lived in North Carolina, where I discovered wild hares and snakes don’t get along, field nice really don’t like it when the farmers harvest what they’ve been living in for months (thus causing them to take up resident in your crawl space)… Jumping on the trampoline in the snow, …And there is nothing more beautiful than running through a field being chased by what you think is a deer monster from the manor across the street (hey, I was 12.) from there we moved to Virginia. A marvelous small town was the perfect setting for a teenager to get into trouble… You could walk from one end of the town to the other, (I’ve got the blisters to prove it!). After that it was back to Florida, where a series of unfortunate events led to one very fortunate event (giving my life over to Jesus!) and that led to a small casino town called tunica Mississippi. That was… Interesting. That lasted a year. Afterward (I was 17 at this point) we moved back to Florida. Then we moved here, where I currently reside, in Carrollton, Georgia, about 45 minutes outside of Atlanta. I’ve been here almost three years and never felt more at home. Which is ironic because GA was one of those places I never really wanted to live. I’m so grateful to be where I finally belong. No longer an orange, or a steel magnolia, but a very content peach. I’ll never like the Bulldogs though. You can’t make me.
Love how places and people can surprise you. Glad to hear you’re happy in Georgia!
Alabama! At the top of the list — We have everything from beautiful beaches to great golf courses and (usually!) moderate winter weather.
No fair! π
I’ve lived in Orlando, Florida for the last 20 years. I got here by way of MI, CA and NY so I am a mixture of all the regionalisms but I do love me some iced tea!! We’ve recently been under an extreme sunshine alert, buried under two inches of sand on the beach lol! Seriously we try hard not to be obnoxious about our winter weather and have lots of sunseeking visitors because summer is coming and then we will be looking for refuge with all our northern relatives. π
I can feel the warmth from here Dorothy π While in high school my sister and I went with the family we babysat for to Orlando! Would def go back!
I’m from the GREAT STATE of North Carolina! (said in pageant queen style) My ‘kin’ (southern for relatives) are all from the mountains, I lived in the middle of the state for a loooong time, did some stints up north (fun, but cold), and now I live at the NC coast. π
Smart woman Cathy π
I am a 5th generation Reno, Nevadan. We honestly have everything from a short (like 30 minute drive) to Lake Tahoe, short drive to San Francisco, canyons with wild horses, snow covered mountains and great people.
Lucky to be so close to so many wonderful things Tarah!
Hi my name is Chris and I am from slightly rainy at the moment (an understatement!) but really beautiful Ireland. I am a Dublin girl but I live in a little town called Virginia, County Cavan (roughly 1 hour from Dublin!). I have a happy, busy life here with my husband and 4 children π
So awesome Christine. I spent a whirlwind 24 hours in Dublin with my husband and friends a few years ago and have the best memories from it π And for my husband’s 40th birthday I organized a “guys trip” to Dublin where he was reunited with with 10 of his best friends from Sweden π
Miles City, Montana!
Wisconsin — I’ve lived here all my life. I was raised in a small town whose claim to fame is that it’s “halfway between the equator and the north pole”!
Born and raised in Dunkirk, NY about 40 miles outside of snowy Buffalo , NY lived there for 20 years and moved to Tonawanda on the Erie Canal were I married and raised my two kids! Was as stay at home mom that babysat kids during the week crafted at night and was on the craft show circuit year round!! But it paid the bills and let me be with my kids.
After 20 years in Tonawanda ( do you see a pattern here?? ) I moved to Concord NH with Target Corp. for a great opportunity but brought along my sewing machines with me!!! Kids were finishing high school and one was already in college! I have been in New Hampshire now for 15 years and I love it! I am now babysitting my grandkids during the day and crafting and sewing at night. No craft shows yet the ids keep me busy with wanting everything they see and they tell me Nonnie I just know you can make it!!! How am I to say NO!!!!
Planning on moving to FL to retire this year. Going to miss the grandchildren but they will visit and they are all in school come September so I feel I did my job of keeping them out of daycare!!!!
I am a fabric hoarder and we have enough quilt stores here in NH to feed my habit on a weekly basis besides what I mail order!
I am in beautiful Kansas City.
Prairie Village, Kansas is my town.
My family moved here from the East coast when I was in High School.
At age 19, I scurried out to the Big Apple, leaving the Prairie behind. After 10 years in New York, I decided to move to LA. On the way, I stopped to see my parents in KC.
That was 30 years, one ex husband , two grown kids, a couple of sewing businesses and six houses ago!
I love it here. It is a lovely city full of gorgeous homes, gardens, Fountains, Museums, Shops, Theater, Dance and Music. Also great restaurants !
I am Sandie DuPree and I live in Jacksonville Florida….I love to sew for decorating my condo. The beach and ocean have inspired me to decorate with all that is ocean themed. Would love help to buy all the materials that I have loved here on your site π May you always have a shell in your pocket, and sand in your toes!
Never heard the shell in your pocket phrase before. It’s sweet π
