How to Make a Cruella de Vil Faux Fur Shawl

Cruella de Vil is an iconic Disney villain that everyone loves to hate. In this tutorial I’m using White Dalmatian Velboa Faux Fur to recreate her shawl. I also used Velcro to help keep the shawl in place but it’s optional.

Instructions

Step 1: Measure and cut the fabric

Fold the fabric in half lengthwise with the right sides facing each other. Take a tape measure and measure around your shoulders to the front where you want the shawl to overlap. That measurement will be your length. My length is 60 inches and I want my shawl to be 17 inches wide, so I’m cutting a 60 by 17 inch rectangle in the middle of the folded fabric. This creates 2 pieces.

Step 2: Sew together

Fold both pieces in half and round out the corners. Unfold the shawl and pin around the edges. Stitch with a 1/2 inch seam allowance around the shawl. Leave about a foot open at the end. Turn the shawl to the right side and poke out the corners. Fold the open edges inward a 1/2 inch and pin. Hand stitch the opening shut.

The Velboa faux fur is so soft and cozy!

Step 3: Attach the velcro

Cut a 3 inch strip of each side of the Velcro. Wrap the shawl around your shoulders and pin where the Velcro should meet. Hand sew each side of the Velcro where the sides overlap at the mark. Double knot and snip the thread.
