Knotted throw pillows are a really fun way to bring a little texture and a funky look to your decor. They’re really easy to make so even beginner sewers can make a few for themselves and their friends.
Any stretchy material can be used to make these guys and you can make them in a variety of different ways. We made ours into a Celtic knot but there are hundreds of really cool knots out there that would make great knotted pillows. What one did you choose? Sew the three tubes together by folding over the open edge of one tube and inserting the closed edge of the other tube inside it. Use a running stitch to sew the pieces together along the edge but don’t pull it tight. Just enough to seal the tubes together. Go around the tube one or two times and then tie off the end. You will need to close the final edge with the running stitch that is cinched shut.
There’s a bunch of different types of knots out there so just pick your favorite and get to knotting. We are using a Celtic knot that we went back and doubled over for width.
When you reach the end, open one cinched end by cutting away the thread and fold over the edge. You may need to take out a little stuffing to do so. Insert the other end of the tube into the open end and sew the two together like before.
Adjust your pillow so it is symmetrical and all the seams are hidden on the backside.
