Instructions

Basic Head Wrap - Step 1: Measure and cut the fabric

First, I’m going to make a basic head wrap.  For a medium size head wrap, cut one 7″ x 21″ strip out of the jersey fabric. For a children’s size, take away 3″ from the length and 1″ from the width. For a large adult size, add an extra inch to the length. Also measure and cut a 3″ x 5″ strip.

Basic Head Wrap - Step 2: Glue the ends together

Glue the two sides together. If you prefer, you can sew the ends together with a zigzag stitch. Let the glue dry completely. Fold to the right side. Glue one end of the 3″ x 5″ strip to the outside. Wrap it around the seam and glue the other end to the inside. If you’re sewing, you’ll need to secure this by hand stitching. Once the glue is dry the basic head wrap is complete.

Knotted Head Wrap - Step 1: Measure and cut the fabric

Now I’m going to make a knotted head wrap. Measure and cut one 7″ x 21″ strip out of the aqua jersey fabric. Measure and cut one 2″ x 4″ strip out of the tangerine jersey fabric.

Knotted Head Wrap - Step 2: Knot and glue the strips

Make a “U” shape out of the aqua jersey fabric. Then take the other strip and make a “U” shape in the opposite direction. Take one end of the tangerine jersey strip and place it under the opposite fabric. The two strips should make an “X”. Glue the strips together on each end. Take both sides and glue together. Let the glue dry for 20 to 30 minutes. Fold to the right side. Then take the 2″ x 4″ strip and glue one end to the outside. Wrap around and glue the other end to the inside. When the glue is dry the knotted head wrap is complete.

Braided Head Wrap - Step 1: Measure and cut the fabric

Last, I’m going to make a braided head wrap. Measure and cut one 7″ x 21″ strip out of the aqua jersey, and one 7″ x 21″ strip out of the navy jersey. Measure and cut one 2″ x 4″ strip out of the navy jersey fabric.

Braided Head Wrap - Step 2: Braid the strips

Place the two strips in a “U” shape form facing opposite directions. One strip should be overlapping the other. Then take one end of the strip that is overlapping and place it underneath the first strip. Take the other side of the overlapping strip and loop it under the first strip, and let it hang over the other side. Take the first strip on the other side and loop it under  the aqua strip. Pull each side gently together to create a braid.

Braided Head Wrap - Step 3: Glue the ends together

Glue the strips together on both ends. Take both sides and glue together. Let the glue dry for 20 to 30 minutes. Fold to the right side. Take the 2″ x 4″ rectangle and glue one end to the outside. Wrap the strip around the seam and glue the other end to the inside. Once the glue is dry the braided head wrap is complete.
