How to Use Fray Check

Dritz Fray Check is a seam sealant that prevents fabric from fraying and secures thread ends. It’s perfect for use on the raw edges of fabric, ribbon, and trim. It also prevents thread ends on sewing and embroidery projects from coming loose.
It can be used to finish raw edges on the inside of garments so they don’t fray when washed. It’s also great for small holes and tears and can be used in combination with an invisible hand stitch to make repairs to clothing and other items.
To get a clean cut with fabric or ribbon, you can use the Fray Check first and then cut on the Fray Check once dry so no fraying occurs.
It dries clear and will not discolor or stain most fabrics, though we suggest testing it in an inconspicuous area to be sure. Use rubbing alcohol to remove unwanted spots of Fray Check. Also test in an inconspicuous area to make sure the rubbing alcohol doesn’t discolor the fabric.
It is washable and dry cleanable.

Before First Use
When first used, puncture the tip with a pin if you require only a small amount or cut off the tip if you prefer a larger amount to be released when squeezed. You can use a piece of cardboard or other material between layers of fabric is you need to protect other areas.
Application
Caution: Fray Check is flammable in its liquid form. Do not use near heat or flame. Avoid contact with eyes. Keep out of the reach of children.
To apply, gently squirt the Dritz Fray Check along the edge of the fabric or on the thread ends. Let it sit for 5 to 10 minutes before handling. Allow 15 to 30 minutes to completely dry. Trim off the excess threads if necessary.
