Velcro® Product Spotlight Video
Our Velcro products are available in sew-on and adhesive varieties. Sew-on Velcro is sewn into whatever item you’re attaching it to. It can be machine sewn or hand sewn, just keep in mind that if it’s machine sewn the stitching will be visible on the opposite side. Sewing on Velcro creates a more permanent bond than using adhesive Velcro. To remove sew-on Velcro, use a seam ripper to remove the stitching.
Adhesive Velcro is easier to use since you just need to peel off the backing and stick it on. It’s not as strong, but still works well. To remove adhesive Velcro, you may be able to peel it off and wash off the sticky residue. You can also use a razor to remove it, or a hair dryer to un-stick the glue.
Over time the bond between the hook and loop sides will weaken as a result of opening and closing repeatedly. This may be due to dirt or dust on the hook and loop sides. To help remove this, you can use strong tape or lint brush.
Projects that have Velcro attached can be washed, but make sure to close the sides together beforehand.
