Making linen-wrapped books is a great cost-effective way add a unique touch to your home décor, and you have the freedom to choose the fabric and color that fits your aesthetic preferences. If you have some old hardcover books lying around, this is a perfect way to make use of them.
I’m using a linen fabric that’s somewhat see-through. If your fabric shows through, you may want to paint the book spines or even the whole cover to match the fabric color.
Lay the book on the fabric and cut a piece that’s a couple inches bigger than the opened book on all 4 sides. If your fabric is wrinkled, this is your last chance to iron before gluing.
Center the open book on the wrong side of the fabric. Place some glue along the book cover edge and fold the fabric over to attach. Pull the fabric taut and repeat to glue the other side.
It helps to have a heavy object holding up the opposite end of the book for the gluing process.
Now it’s time to attach the top and bottom fabric ends. I started by pinching some fabric at the corner and cutting some excess fabric to reduce bulk. Fold the corner in at an angle before gluing down. Repeat to attach the remaining top and bottom ends.
