Instructions

Step 1: Cut out the fabric

Cut out and tape together the template. Use it to cut out the Phifertex. Also, from the outdoor fabric cut out two 19×5” rectangles, two 19×8” rectangles and two 35×4” strips.

Step 2: Make the strap

Iron it so the seam is directly in the center and it lays flat.

Fold the long strips in half with right sides facing and clip up the edges to make the strap. Sew up the edge. Flip the strap right side out.

Step 3: Iron

Test a scrap piece of fabric to make sure it won’t melt before hand.

Take the long edges of all four other rectangles and iron them in ¼” to hide the raw edge. Use a low heat setting. You may want to pin the edges down after if your fabric does not lay flat. You can just take these pins out as you sew in the next step.

Step 4: Sew

Clip the top edges of the Phifertex in ½” and sew them down so you hide the raw edge.

Step 5: Sew on the trim

Remove the pins as you sew.

Clip the two 8” rectangles ½” away from where the Phifertex notches in to create the bottom of the bag on both sides. Sew these pieces on by stitching up both long sides of the triangle. Don’t worry about the short edges, they will be sewn on when you construct the bag.

Then clip the 5” rectangles ½” away from the top edge of the Phifertex on both sides.

Also clip each end of the straps 3” away from the center of the bag.

Sew the long edges on both sides.

Step 6: Sew

Fold the bag so the right sides are facing, clip up the edges, making sure the trim pieces line up with each other. Sew both edges.

Open the seam you just sewed and clip it so it lays flat against where the template notched in. Sew this on both sides

Finally, flip the bag right side out.
