Making Christmas stockings is a fast and easy project that anyone can do. You can use a variety of materials for the outer fabric and lining. Leave the stocking simple, or personalize it with a name on the cuff. For some decorations like appliques or embroidery, you may want to do them before sewing the stocking together.

Fold the outer fabric so that the pattern fits on it.
Pin the pattern to the two layers of fabric. Cut them out. If you’re using a lightweight fabric use an iron on stabilizer on the back so it holds its shape.
Repeat for the lining fabric.
Pin the outer fabric together with right sides facing. Sew around the stocking with a half inch seam allowance. Leave the top open.
Do the same thing for the lining but this time place the loop between the lining pieces about an inch below where the cuff will be folded over.
Angle it up so it will hang better.
Pull the lining out and turn the stocking right side out through the hole in the bottom of the lining.
Fold the edges of the opening in and sew the hole shut.
