How to Stop Chafing

Chafing. It happens to every one of us. The day the weather gets warm enough, all I want to do is put on my pretty summer dresses and twirl around, but every year my thighs are so rude and they chafe to the point of serious discomfort.

I have tried shorts, but they’re bulky and they totally ruin my favorite part about wearing a dress (NO pants, YAY!)

So I took to the internet, and I found companies making lacy garments that were super cute and super practical. But being me, I thought “I could make these for a fraction of the price.” So that is what I set out to do.

Instructions

Step 1: Measure

Measure the widest part of your thigh.

Step 2: Cut

You can make them wider if you would like!

Cut out 2 pieces of stretch lace that are 7” by the width of your thigh.

Step 3: Sew

Fold the top of the band two times to hide the raw edge and sew.

I am using the scalloped edge on this lace as the bottom of my band. If you aren’t using lace with a finished edge though, finish it how you finished the top edge.

Step 4: Sew on Elastic

Stretch the clear elastic and sew two pieces across the whole strip  ¼” from both the top and bottom inside edge using a zig-zag stitch.

Step 5: Sew closed

Fold the strip with right sides together and sew up the open edge.
