How to Make a Smocked Tube Top

Today, I am going to show you how to make this super cute smocked tube top. They are really trendy and I made it to go with these pants for a full bathing suit cover-up which I will link here so you can get the whole look.
Materials
- 1 yard of a quilting cotton, broadcloth or another medium to lightweight material
- Ruler
- Pins
- Chalk or fabric marker
- Thread & elastic thread
- Scissors
- Iron & ironing board
- Sewing machine

Instructions
Step 1: Cut fabric
Pre-wash and iron your fabric.
Cut out a piece of fabric that’s the length you want it by your bust plus about 12 inches for seam allowance and shrinkage when you shirr.
Step 2: Pin & sew edges
Fold the long edges twice and pin to hide the raw edge. Sew both edges.
Step 3: Shirr the fabric
Shirr the fabric with evenly spaced lines all the way down the width of the rectangle you cut.

Step 4: Pin & sew pieces
Pin the piece with right sides together and sew up the seam.
Step 5: Iron
Spray with water and iron to accentuate the shirred look.
